VirtualDJ 8 records, edits, and mixes digital audio and video from a wide range of sources for free. V8 is no mere upgrade but a significant new release of a robust and refined suite. Atomix Productions entirely re-coded its flagship software, giving it an all-new sound engine and improving sampling, browser, and effects, as well as adding important new capabilities, like video.
VirtualDJ supports up to 99 decks. 4-deck and 6-deck skins are included in all editions of VirtualDJ 7. VirtualDJ offers video mixing and scratching. Vinyl emulation allows the user to physically use and change the playback of digital audio files on a computer using the turntables as an interface. This allows users to scratch, beatmatch, and perform other turntablism.
